Nico Rosberg, secured the best finish of his F1 career at Marina Bay in 2008 as he drove his Williams to second place - taking advantage of sloppy officialdom to leapfrog a host of cars.
Speeding in the pitlane had given him the lead as everyone pitted under safety car conditions early on, but once racing resumed, he went off like a rocket. That race stewards took an age to enforce his penalty meant he was able to pull away while Jarno Trulli's Toyota held up the back. It made his race.
He should have had the same result in '09, but after outbraking himself at the pit exit and driving over the blend line, he was given another penalty. This time it did its intended job and dropped him to 11th.
Times will be better then yesterday, and I believe that Schumacher will not be alble to match that pace. After his 3 season pause, he wasn't successful as this sport changes very fast. Cars and rules are changed every year, and 3 year pause is really big one in this sport.
Yes, Michael had second time in Free Practice 1, and was in top 10 in Free Practice 2, but this is just a practice. It doesn't count. Other drivers, probably drove with more fuel, and worked on race prep. instead of quick laps.
