Firstly, injured players: Doughty will not play for the Kings on Monday. Scott Parse (groin) is day-to-day. Minnesota winger Pierre-Marc Bouchard is out as he continues to suffer from post-concussion syndrome. Cam Barker suffered a groin injury on Thursday against the Oilers and was not in the lineup Friday. Josh Harding is likely done for the season with a torn ACL and MCL, and James Sheppard (knee) is out 3-4 months.
Tonight is the Kings’ first game of the season on the national stage, and also, the first of four meetings between the teams this season. Their opponent is before the last placed team of Northwest Division, Minnesota Wild. Kings are the first placed in Pacific Division. So, there is significant difference between these two teams in the quality. The only advantage that Minnesota has on this match is the home ground, since Kings are a much weaker as a guest, but as host. At home, Minnesota won and lost two matches. Four of of that ended with over 5.5 goals. The first goals on that matches were scored before 8th minute on four of seven matches. Wild like fast hockey and they scored within that time all four times and allowed a goal once. On the other side, Kings scored three and allowed the same number of goals in the first 8 minute of the game. So, it seems it is often event on their games, and I believe that we just watch it tonight, too.
