Florida Panthers dropped their last four visits at Belle Centre in Montreal. Last year Canadiens won twice at home and once away, while one match away they played tied. So, last year Florida Panthers won only one point playing against tonight's opponent. From the beginning of this season Panthers won three matches, but they lost even five. However they played at home only three matches (two victories), and as visitors they won one and lost four matches. Against Canadian teams they had mixed results in the first period - two victories, two defeats and one draw. All were played away and four of them ended with under 1.5 goals, while one ended with two scored goals within only Florida's victory away, against Calgary.
Montreal Canadiens are immediately the best in NHL, but thanks to their matches away, while they won three matches at home (one after OT) and lost two (one after OT). Against stronger defenses they played with under 1.5 goals in the first period. Tonight they are complete, because Andrei Markov, the Canadiens’ best defenseman will back in the lineup. Goalie Carey Price (.913, GAA 2.32) showed that Canadiens did not make a mistake by keeping him this summer. Other goalie, Alex Auld, was also excellent on his only match this season (.968). In Florida, probably, Scott Clemmensen will replace Tomas Vokoun in goal. Clemmensen has won all three of his career decisions against the Canadiens, while Vokoun is 4-7-1-2 in 16 appearances against the team that drafted him.
So, I expect good defenses and small number of goals. I hope, especially in the first period.
