This is a match that will determine who will go through to the knockout stages and I will stand my ground on Phillips despite his loss to Waites. His performance is still much better than that of Stompe. Although they both have one win and one loss, just consider the averages - Stompe 91.74 and 90.15 - that is in sharp contrast to Phillips - 103.28 and 96.79. I guess the reason for Stompe being favorite is the fact that Phillips went down 5-1 to Waites. That is totally misleading though, as the match could have easily ended 5-1 the other way around. It is also interesting to consider the throwing styles - Phillips usually starts well and then goes off during longer matches, while Stompe needs to get into rhythm. And this is a very short match, just best of 9 legs - so Phillips should be able to take advantage of that and start well. All in all, nothing suggests that Stompe should be the favorite here - it is at least 60/40 to Phillips in my opinion - so odds of 2.00 are solid value. Phillips has been more impressive so far and should go through the group stage.
