Arsenal are once again in the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup, an achievement that has become usual in the recent years. Arsene Wenger likes to field youngsters in this competition and everything goes fine, as long as the ties are at home. Last year Arsenal were eliminated by Manchester City (3:0) in 2009/2010 and by Burnley (2:0) in 2008/2009 exactly on this stage, but the difference today is that Arsenal will play on "Emirates". Diaby, Vermaelen, Fabregas and Squillaci will miss the game, but the likes of Eboue, Van Persie, Walcott and Bendtner are ready to play, as they didn't play against Aston Villa.
Wigan reached the Carling Cup Final in 2005/2006 season, but since then "Latics" were eliminated by Crewe, Hull City, Arsenal and Blackpool. It's up to them to change the tradition and they have a chance to upset Wenger. Rodallega, Cleverley, Caldwell, Boyce and McCarthy won't play today, but defender Alcaraz is back after suspension.
Arsenal are feeling pretty comfortable, facing Wigan - "The Gunners" have won all their 7 home games against "Latics" with 18:4 goal difference. A lot of option ahead of Wenger today and I believe he will field a determined starting eleven, that could prove overwhelming for Wigan. Arsenal to win by 2 goals or more is my call.
