Mohun Bagan are one of the powerhouses in the Indian football, but had a disappointing campaign last term and now are determined to correct this. In the first the team drew with Pune FC, creating some good goalscoring opportunities. Chidi Edeh, Jose Ramirez Barreto and Muritala Ali should start again as a forward trio, while the scorer of the last game - Shehasish will cause troubles with his sharp free-kicks. Mohun have one of the most powerful attacks in I League, so the likes of Dempo and Churchill Brothers will have to respect them.
Hindustan are newcomers this season and started brightly by beating JCT Mills away from home in the first round. The team made some changes during the pre-season, acquiring the services of 14 players, with Shekar Muralidharan being the best-known newcomer. Two Nigerian players left, together with some local players that chose to join ONGC. All in all, at first sight, the Hindustan' squad has no much quality, but it won't lack enthusiasm.
With Mohun Bagan possessing two of the best strikers last year (Edeh and Ali) it seems reasonable to back them to win today. Hindustan surprised in the first round against JCT, but it will be much different here, given the fact they had also travelled a very long distance. Good odds for Mohun and it remains to be seen whether how Barreto-Edeh-Ali trio will handle the HAL's defense.
