Lokeren are performing superbly these days and it's no surprise that the team is on 5th place. Coach Peter Maes couldn't have hoped for more after the bad start of the season, when "Tricolores" were on a 5-match winless run. But then it came the win over Westerlo (3:1) and even though Lokeren lost in the next round to Genk, from then on things became totally different. Wins over Gent, Eupen, GBA, Charleroi and Club Brugge gave the team astonishing 15 points from 15 possible and Lokeren rose to prominence. Being eliminated from the cup by minnows White Star Woluwe thought to have a negative consequences to Lokeren's results, but that was a completely wrong hypothesis - KSC won over Sint-Truiden, Mechelen and Standard Liege and even drew with Anderlecht away from home.
Cercle Brugge are 9th in the table and are in very bad form - 1-1-4 from the last 6 games. The big positive thing about the team is the progress in the cup and it could became a salvage for the season, as the top6 is getting away. Coach Bob Peeteres relies mainly on experienced players like Serebrennikov, Vidarsson and Iachtchouk, who are getting a huge help from Brazilians Reynaldo and Renato Neto. Cercle have recorded two wins away from home this seaso - over Lierse and Club Brugge, but againt Anderlecht, Genk and Zulte Waregem they dind't stand a chance.
It should be a tight encounter, but I believe Lokeren are in better mood these days and will be much more confident ahead of this clash. Benjamin De Ceulaer and Ivan Leko proved to be very important players for the hosts and I won't be surprised if they find the net today. Lokeren to win is my call.
