Naft Maysan finished in the middle of the table of the South section of the Iraqi League last year, but started very poorly the new campaign. The team lost to Al Hasanin, Al Najaf and Al Masafi and drew with runners-up from last year Al Talaba. Generally, Naft are good at home, but they met three very ambitious teams and it's no big surprise that they lost.
Al Zawraa were eliminated in the semifinals of the league last year by Duhok and will now seek another qualification for the finals. So far the team is doing good, beating Karbala, Al Hindiya and Al Nasiriya, losing only to Al Quwa/Jawiya. Zawraa are trailing Al Masafi by 3 points, but that's not very important - the aim is a top6 finish, which will send the team to the Elite Stage.
It's a tricky game here and it's no surprise that the odds are not favoring the guests too much. Naft Maysan are a tough nut to crack and even though they've won only 1 point so far, Al Zawraa will have to work very hard in order to win. Still, I believe that the guests are able to claim the three points and go home satisfied.
